How data is used

Data from third party service providers are used for analytics and app functionality. Please refer to the Third Parties links above for more information on how third party service providers use your data.

App data stored locally on your device (that I have no way of accessing, using, or sharing) using SQLite, and NSUserDefaults on iOS or SharedPreferences on Android is used for app functionality.

Please refer to the Advertising section below for information on how third party advertising providers use your data.

Advertising

Ads are included in my apps. However, the ads are not personalized.

Google AdMob

According to AdMob:

Non-personalized ads are ads that are not based on a user’s past behavior. They are targeted using contextual information, including coarse (such as city-level) geo-targeting based on current location, and content on the current site or app or current query terms. Google disallows all personalized targeting, including demographic targeting and user list targeting.

Although non-personalized ads don’t use cookies or mobile ad identifiers for ad targeting, they do still use cookies or mobile ad identifiers for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse.

Also according to AdMob:

To improve the performance of AdMob, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect certain information from apps, including:

IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of a device.

Non-user related crash logs, which may be used to diagnose problems and improve the SDK. Diagnostic information may also be used for advertising and analytics purposes.

User-associated performance data such as app launch time, hang rate, or energy usage, which may be used to evaluate user behavior, understand the effectiveness of existing product features, and plan new features. Performance data may also be used for displaying ads, including sharing with other entities that display ads.

A Device ID such as the device’s advertising identifier or other app-bounded device identifiers, which may be used for the purpose of third-party advertising and analytics.

Advertising data, such as advertisements the user has seen, may be used to power analytics and advertising features.

Other user product interactions like app launch taps, and interaction information, like video views, may be used to improve advertising performance.
